Here is the blurb that the director of the ABA Law student’s division for the 9th Circuit posted about this initiative:
The Foundation of the Federal Bar Association is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications for the Robert A. McNew Law Student Scholarship. This new scholarship promotes the pr
actice of federal law by awarding a scholarship of $5,000 to a law student attending an ABA accredited law school. The scholarship is named in honor of the Foundation of the Federal Bar Association past president and founder of the Fellows program, Robert A. McNew, who also served as president of the FBA and a director of the Federal Bar Building Corporation. Bob has been an active member of the FBA for more than 30 years and continues to support the Foundation in his retirement.
The scholarship is awarded to a current law student who is a Federal Bar Association law student associate member in good standing. Applicants must exhibit professionalism and high character in their personal and professional lives as demonstrated in application materials. Applicants must submit an application, a personal essay, transcript, and two letters of recommendation (these may include a letter from a professor). An award will be based on student participation in the FBA, law school, community activities, and academic achievement.
The deadline to submit the scholarship application and the required documentation to the Foundation of the Federal Bar Association is November 30. You may submit the application via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Incomplete applications will not be considered. A scholarship application form may be downloaded from the Foundation of the Federal Bar Association’s website.
